What we're learning!
Reading: We have been learning all about characters! What they like, how they act and even predicting what they might do! This great work will guide us as we begin writing our own realistic adventures!
Fundations: This is a multi-sensory approach used in 1st grade to build a foundation in reading and spelling. We have been learning all about glued sounds, the suffix -s and syllables! Remember to practice those trick words at home.
Math: Here we go... measurement galore! In this unit we will be learning all about measurement using non-standard objects. This includes time and graphing as well! Keep an eye out for some really fun projects in the near future.
Writing: In our writing class we are circling back to narrative writing, but now we'll be writing realistic fiction with our own characters! These adventures will also bring us to be published authors and create our very own box set!
Science: In science we are learning so much about living things! As you know, the students have been investigating a variety of ways to begin plants! Soon, we'll be investigating plant cuttings and habitats.
Social Studies: We have concluded our unit on the world around us and we are now diving into economics! Take a close look at the Studies Weekly Magazines to discuss at home some of our topics and don't forget to review those vocabulary cards as they come home.
